Pilates & Stretch

Pilates Tambien offer pilates classes in Melbourne, Australia.

Pilates exercises are based on many every day movements with an emphasis on flowing and continuous movement, without holding positions, in order to create a harmonious mind and body connection. Using this way of training the mind and body the individual will learn to automatically move in the safest way when lifting, bending, twisting or when under load or stress.

Pilates is a body-weight resistant exercise that is primarily known for creating core strength. This includes the abdominal, back, and gluteal muscles - the largest muscle groups responsible for supporting the body in all movement. In general, pilates promotes strength, stamina, coordination, balance, flexibility, neuromuscular coordination and left/right body symmetry. A symmetrical body is a happy body.

Dancers

The rewards from practicing Pilates happen to be the same requirements that make for any competent dancer. Stretch class is especially good for all those 'tight' areas which can limit freedom of movement in dance.

Leigh Rogan has a solid foundation in dance and movement and has been teaching Argentine tango for over 15 years. Leigh is currently director of Tango Tambien which teaches authentic Argentine tango.

Leigh Rogan

Pilates instructor Leigh Rogan originally learnt pilates to try to overcome a chronic and painful back problem and was so impressed with the results that she trained to be a teacher. Leigh has been teaching pilates for over 10 years in gyms, businesses and privately and takes particular care to ensure good and safe technique. Leigh is VICFIT (Victoria Council on Fitness and General Health) registered.
